Beware of Bulletproof Dog

I was surprised to find out that war dogs are widely deployed in the Middle East, and even more surprised at out of the 80-strong team that took part in the Osama raid, one of them was actually a dog. Quite a bit of money is also being spent on Kevlar vests for these four legged operatives that costs $30,000 that could withstand handgun rounds.

I'm not a dog person, and I wished they'd make one for cats!

  1. I would get one for my cat, but until pigeons are equipped with sniper rifles I think he will be ok.

  4. Probably training the dogs is way more expensive than the kevlar. That's why they need to wear it.
What I don't know is what they use the dogs for.

  17. I read an article about how a marine was KIA, and the war dog in his squadron was adopted by the surviving family.

sometimes the military can make these awesome things possible.

  18. Wow, $30k! They use similar vests for hunting dogs, but nothing close to being able to withstand a bullet!

  24. I know they do this for money cause training such dog costs a lot but i dont give a crap about motives its just good to hear that army thinks about all members of their personel (as a matter of fact they protect humans also because its painfull to lose trained recruit not to mention political impact of casualties)
